Mahle chargeBIG: New AC charging station with four charging points

The new product: smallBOX Public

Mahle chargeBIG, the charging infrastructure specialist subsidiary of the Stuttgart automotive supplier Mahle, is presenting a compact AC charging unit called smallBOX Public at this year's Power2Drive. According to electrive.net, it can supply up to four electric vehicles simultaneously with 22 kW of AC charging power each. The company names parking operators, municipalities, and businesses as target groups.

Integrated housing from Langmatz Energy

The outer housing of the smallBOX Public comes from infrastructure and housing solutions provider Langmatz Energy and, according to Mahle chargeBIG, is optimally matched to the dynamic, grid-relieving AC charging technology. The integrated design means no additional stand columns are required, this saves space and allows harmonious integration into existing parking structures, according to the company. End customers can pay conveniently at the terminal via RFID charging card or credit card.

Two financing models with BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions

Mahle chargeBIG also points to two financing models developed together with BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions for the build-up of charging infrastructure, which are designed to work without high upfront investment. With classic leasing, customers benefit from predictable monthly instalments that preserve liquidity and open up financial flexibility. With hire purchase, the charging infrastructure becomes the property of the customer at the end of the term and can be carried in fixed assets in the long term.

Power2Drive 2026: Further new products in tow

Mahle chargeBIG plans to present the smallBOX Public as well as the financing models at Power2Drive. According to electrive.net, the trade fair will take place from 23 to 25 June 2026 at the Munich exhibition centre, with the Mahle stand located in Hall C6, stand number 320. There, the company is showing two further new products: the mobile charging solution smallBOX Portable, which is designed for construction sites, events, or temporary charging parks and also offers four charging points with up to 22 kW each, entirely without fixed installation. In addition, Mahle has developed a new cooling module for rapid charging stations that efficiently dissipates the heat from the charging cable, thereby ensuring maximum charging performance even under extreme climatic conditions.

Outlook and positioning

Mahle chargeBIG has not yet published a data sheet for the new 4-way charging station. Managing Director Dr Matthias Kreimeier formulates the company's claim according to electrive.net as follows: "Charging must be as simple as refuelling, regardless of location. Whether for fleet parking spaces, public and company car parks, or temporary construction sites, with our further-developed product portfolio we deliver the right, intelligent charging offering for every application."
